San Carlos bar's liquor license suspended
The state on Thursday suspended the liquor license of a downtown San Carlos bar that bought alcohol from a retailer instead of a distributor. The Orchid Room's license was suspended for 20 days, said John Carr, a state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) spokesman. He said the Laurel Street business is not being fined and can remain open while its license is suspended, but it cannot sell alcohol. Carr said the violation occurred Jan. 25. Carr said he doesn't know who sold the liquor.
The Orchid Room's owners could not be reached for comment.
According to ABC records, liquor law violations are rare in San Carlos. There are 77 ABC-licensed businesses in San Carlos, and 73 of them do not have any history of disciplinary action.
